What are mortgage calculators and why are they so important? Before you make a purchase and request a mortgage or mortgage loan you need to know your monthly cost. Generally speaking, calculators used in everyday business will not be very helpful. Loans or mortgages require the payment of principle and interest over a period of time.  Most calculators cannot make such calculations.  Mortgage calculators are designed to do the math for you.  A mortgage calculator allows the entry of a loan amount, the period of time over which the mortgage will be paid, for example 15 or 30 years and the rate of interest, for example 6%.  Actually you are entering three variables into a mortgage calculator. The first is the amount of the loan, the second is the number of months (for 30 years you enter 360 as the number of months) and the third is the interest rate.  The mortgage calculator will then compute your monthly payment.  Although we have included various mortgage calculators, our loan officers will be pleased to do the math either with you or for you free of charge.
